Joseph Longbottom

Joseph was born on the coast of California, but relocated to Kansas early in his life. Before moving to Colorado a few years ago, he lived in Lawrence, Kansas for fifteen years. Joseph graduated from the University of Kansas, then attended Rockhurst University where he earned his Masters of Elementary Education. In his career as an educator, he has taught fourth grade, fifth grade and preschool through fifth grade as a media specialist, all in Expeditionary Learning schools. He has served in a variety of leadership roles including curriculum writer, instructional coach and assistant principal. These experiences led him to his dream position as principal of Tollgate Elementary School of EL Education. What Joseph loves most about his job is the opportunity to serve the wonderful community of students, parents and teachers. Outside of work, he loves to get outdoors with his beautiful wife, Irene, and their dog, Kona. He also has a deep passion for writing music and playing guitar. Joseph is so proud of his loving family at home, and the inspiring family at Tollgate. We are CREW!!


Allison Ostrom, Assistant Principal

Alison comes from a family of educators and began her teaching career in her home state of Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in elementary education, the University of Illinois with an M.Ed in education policy, and the University of Northern Colorado with an Ed.S in educational leadership. Since moving to Colorado, Alison has worked in various roles in APS including classroom teacher, reading interventionist, and teaching partner. Most recently, she was an assistant principal at another APS elementary school in the Northwest community. Alison is currently pursuing her doctoral degree where she is researching educational leaders’ use of trauma-informed approaches in schools. Alison’s husband is also an APS educator, and they love to make the most of their time off together by enjoying time in the mountains with their dog. Alison enjoys camping, running, hiking, skiing, and anything else that allows her to soak up the beautiful Colorado sunshine. Alison is thrilled to be a part of the Tollgate crew this year!


Meghan Statton
Administrator of Student Support

Meghan is a Colorado native, born in Montbello and a graduate of Denver Public Schools (East Angels!). She graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a degree in English Literature and Gender Studies, Fordham University with a Master of Social Work, and University of Denver’s Ritchie Program for School Leaders. Her sixteen years in education have allowed her to wear many hats along the way, including special education teacher, transition specialist, educational advocate, dean of child study and support services, and most recently a district system support specialist for Aurora Public Schools. Outside of work, Meghan is busy raising her two little girls, Dellah (6.5) and Phoebe (3.5) with her husband, Rob. She loves traveling and spending time with her giant extended family (she’s the eldest of 7!). Meghan is honored to be a part of the Tollgate crew!
