On the afternoon of February 18, eager Tollgate third grade students visited the Denver Zoo for a special “Bunk With the Beasts” overnight adventure. Building off our curriculum of animal adaptations, students got up close and personal with many of the zoo’s residents. This included a private night time tour of the zoo (with night vision scopes!), opportunities to touch live animals, and a private morning tour of the zoo where we were able to go behind the scenes to the Nutrition Center to see how the zoo feeds all of their animals. The overnight concluded with a special wildlife show where an African Serval performed in front of students. Students arrived back at school Friday morning with lifelong memories, stronger friendships, and some amazing expert knowledge of incredible animal adaptations.
